Plague masks

I drove around a bend in the road to discover a check-point where officers were stopping each car. I noticed a nurse standing nearby wearing one of those old plague masks that look like a strange bird beak. As I passed by, I tried not to stare at the eerie sight of the masked nurse but was enthralled nonetheless.
